When Life Doesn’t Make Sense
Let’s be honest: faith sounds beautiful when life is going according to plan. When prayers are answered, doors open, and blessings flow — trusting God feels easy.
But what about when life feels unfair?
When the good suffer.
When the answer is silence.
When you’re doing everything “right,” but nothing’s working.
When you're praying hard but watching others receive what you’re still waiting for.
That’s the kind of faith most people don’t talk about — the faith that stretches you, not soothes you. But it’s real. And it’s powerful.
🙏🏽 What Is Faith, Really?
Faith isn’t about feeling good.
It’s about standing firm when everything around you is shaking.
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
That means faith is believing even when you can’t see. Trusting even when you don’t understand. Holding on when you feel like letting go. It’s not always loud or confident. Sometimes, faith is a quiet whisper: “God, I don’t get this… but I still trust You.”
💡 Truth: God’s Plan Doesn’t Have to Feel Fair to Be Good
Life doesn’t play by our rules, and neither does God.
God isn’t fair by human standards — He’s better.
He’s sovereign. He sees the full picture when we only see a frame.
There’s a reason for the wait.
There’s purpose in the pain.
There’s growth in what feels like grief.
What feels like a “no” could be a “not yet.”
What feels like loss could be protection.
What feels like silence might be preparation.
🌱 How to Hold On When Faith Feels Hard
1. Get Honest with God
Faith doesn’t mean faking peace. God can handle your frustration, your tears, your anger. He’s not asking for perfection — just presence. Go to Him messy. Go to Him real. He already knows.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
2. Remind Yourself of His Track Record
Think back on all the times God came through when you didn’t think He would — or could. Let your past victories fuel your present faith. If He did it before, He can do it again.
3. Stop Comparing Your Journey
Someone else’s blessings don’t mean you’ve been forgotten. Their “now” doesn’t disqualify your “not yet.” God writes custom stories — yours included.
4. Anchor Yourself in the Word
When your emotions are wild, the Word keeps you grounded. Fill your heart with promises, not just positivity.
Try holding onto verses like:
-
Romans 8:28 – “All things work together for good…”
-
Isaiah 55:9 – “My ways are higher than your ways…”
-
Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted…”
5. Keep Moving Forward — Even Slowly
Faith doesn’t always look like bold leaps. Sometimes it’s just putting one foot in front of the other, praying through the tears, showing up when it’s hard. Keep going. Even crawling is still progress.
🌤️ Final Thoughts: Trust Is a Choice, Not a Feeling
You won’t always feel faithful. That’s okay. Feelings are real, but they’re not reliable. Choose trust anyway. Choose hope anyway. Choose belief anyway.
Faith isn’t ignoring the unfairness.
Faith is saying, “Even here, even now, even this… God, I still trust You.”
And that kind of faith?
That’s the kind that moves mountains.
